    About Chris P.

I have been playing guitar most of my life on stages big and small. Even when I had a responsible “day job”, music has always been the heart of my life and I am looking forward to sharing that gift with others. I am currently going to Berklee College of Music as a guitar performance major and I play gigs throughout the Central Texas area. My passion is contemporary country music and blues, but the foundations of music are the same no matter what you play. Going to college has proven to me that with the right foundation, I can sit in on any session and be up to speed in a manner of minutes. I think guitar is a great instrument to learn the foundations of music. It forces you to think about music from a musical perspective, and not from the linear perspective that more melodic instruments do. I find that people that learn first on guitar, and are taught proper foundations, become better musicians in the end. It is a challenge, but it is a very worthwhile challenge. Besides, people get excited about singers and guitarists, not about brass players. But if you start with guitar, then everything else will almost come naturally. And with the proper guidance, you can get past that first difficult part very quickly. I have helped several people learn guitar over the years, even a few that had written off guitar as too hard. I am in the process of changing my degree to Music Therapy, as I feel music can benefit people in so many ways. It isn’t an easy endeavor, but I wholeheartedly believe that anyone can make beautiful music and I’d love the chance to help you make music. I also have a special needs child that now performs in local theaters regularly and dreams of broadway. I have helped foster children with various kinds of trauma. I can accommodate the needs of any child, just let me know what you need. The light on a child’s face when they see that they can make music is priceless, and I think music is a great compliment to traditional therapies for special needs children.
