I love music, I love playing music, and most of all I love to teach music! I am a person who truly believes that giving someone an instrument and providing him/her with some direction can change their life. I have a degree in Music Business/Management from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I began playing drums since age 7 (after my mother grew tired of listening to me bang on pots and pans) and have been passionate about the instrument ever since. My home town is Washington DC, but I now reside in Boston as a free-lance musician and teacher. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of touring across the country, playing in world renown recording studios, and performing in front of large audiences. While fluent in all drumming styles, I specialize in rock, funk, pop, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz. I have years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. When I was in the DC area, I was very involved in the community as a high-school and elementary school music teacher in both individual and group settings. Upon moving to Boston, I have had students whose ages range from from 5-60. It's been extremely inspiring to see people of all ages who want to learn and experience something that's so important to me. Hopefully I can utilize what I have learned over the years to inspire you as well! *** Lesson Details *** I have a patient and easygoing personality that makes learning the drums fun and rewarding! I consider myself to be a great motivator who keeps his students captivated and enthusiastic about the material. Not only will I introduce you to new concepts that will take your skills to the next level, but I will also focus my efforts in developing your current sound. My approach is centered around music you love and seek to create! After studying with me for a few months, you will be versatile in many drumming styles, reading music notation at a rapid rate, soloing around the kit, and enjoying yourself! “Chris is great with my two sons! He gets them motivated to practice, and they can’t wait for him to come each week!" (Francesca A., Needham, MA) *** Studio Equipment *** - Dedicated music space - Two drum sets (one made by Ayotte Drums and the other by Taye Drums) - PA and Mics for recording *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide drums, cymbals, sticks, and any hardware they might need to experience a proper lesson. I expect my student to have some sort of drum or pad. It does NOT have to be a full drum set. *** Specialties *** I specialize in all areas of drum set and percussion including: - Rock - Funk - Swing/Jazz - Latin - Drum & Bass - Hip-Hop - R&B - Raggae - Classical Percussion. I also have experience teaching from various drum set and notation books.

Great instructor. Chris is a great teacher. He clearly works hard to figure out how I can improve, and doesn't seem to go too slowy on boring things or speed past important things. His teaching style is really flexible, and he pays a lot of attention to what I find interesting to make things more fun.

beginner student Chris is great at helping me gain the confidence to push myself into learning a much needed skill for my songwriting. For me.. I easily get frustrated when trying to learn a new skill on an instrument. Chris is excellent at keeping me motivated and patient with myself. It's only been a few lessons but I feel like I've already learned a lot. I've taken lots of lessons in the past (piano as a kid, guitar as a teen) and Chris is definitely an ideal instructor for beginners and beyond! He seems to really care about your goals and offering everything he can to help you get there.
