I love music, I love playing music, and most of all I love to teach music! I am a person who truly believes that giving someone an instrument and providing him/her with some direction can change their life.
I have a degree in Music Business/Management from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I began playing drums since age 7 (after my mother grew tired of listening to me bang on pots and pans) and have been passionate about the instrument ever since. My home town is Washington DC, but I now reside in Boston as a free-lance musician and teacher. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of touring across the country, playing in world renown recording studios, and performing in front of large audiences. While fluent in all drumming styles, I specialize in rock, funk, pop, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz.
I have years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. When I was in the DC area, I was very involved in the community as a high-school and elementary school music teacher in both individual and group settings. Upon moving to Boston, I have had students whose ages range from from 5-60. It's been extremely inspiring to see people of all ages who want to learn and experience something that's so important to me. Hopefully I can utilize what I have learned over the years to inspire you as well!

I have a patient and easygoing personality that makes learning the drums fun and rewarding! I consider myself to be a great motivator who keeps his students captivated and enthusiastic about the material. Not only will I introduce you to new concepts that will take your skills to the next level, but I will also focus my efforts in developing your current sound. My approach is centered around music you love and seek to create! After studying with me for a few months, you will be versatile in many drumming styles, reading music notation at a rapid rate, soloing around the kit, and enjoying yourself!

Super cool and super patient. My 5 year old loved him.
Chris is a great teacher. He clearly works hard to figure out how I can improve, and doesn't seem to go too slowy on boring things or speed past important things. His teaching style is really flexible, and he pays a lot of attention to what I find interesting to make things more fun.
Chris is great at helping me gain the confidence to push myself into learning a much needed skill for my songwriting. For me.. I easily get frustrated when trying to learn a new skill on an instrument. Chris is excellent at keeping me motivated and patient with myself. It's only been a few lessons but I feel like I've already learned a lot. I've taken lots of lessons in the past (piano as a kid, guitar as a teen) and Chris is definitely an ideal instructor for beginners and beyond! He seems to really care about your goals and offering everything he can to help you get there.
I had an insane request for Chris: Teach me to play ACDC's "You Shook Me All Night Long." Oh, and I've never touched a drumset before. And you have two hours. Somehow, he managed to do it. He was extremely receptive and always kept my goal in sight. He modified the grooves (he taught me that term) to make them more accessible in light of the time crunch and my lack of experience. Chris wasn't patronizing or condescending but really fun. He was truly amazing to work with.
