I have been teaching piano for 11 years. Since 2012, I have run "Piano Lessons in Sacramento," my personal piano studio in Northern California. My studio has been a finalist two years running in a local "best of" contest for local businesses called the Sacramento A-List. I have also been featured on a local morning show called "Good Day Sacramento," broadcast through the CW network. I specialize in personalized attention with the student, as I always aim to get to know the student's particular music desires, strengths, and weaknesses, and help them to grow not only as musicians, but as people. I subscribe to the philosophy that learning is 80% psychology, and 20% actual skills. Therefore, I am big on helping students have the mindset to succeed at their musical goals while guiding them to to gain the knowledge to do so. I find this approach works very well with adults, who often need the guidance of someone who believes in them. I also aim to help students experience the joy of learning. I believe that with true desire and dedication, any student will surprise themselves by how much they learn. More generally about my musical background: I am a graduate of UC Berkeley with honors with a BA in Music, and I am a life-long musician, songwriter, and composer. I have performance experience in nearly every area of music, including pop, rock, musical theater, classical, and hip hop, and have performed for or with clients as diverse as retirement homes, high schools, colleges, and community centers throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento.
