Chris grew up hearing his dad play guitar around the house and at live shows. He “caught the bug” around age 13 and hasn’t stopped playing since! He’s been teaching guitar since 2003 and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music at North Central University in 2008 where he studied jazz, blues, rock, classical, songwriting, and church music. He’s taught about two dozen lessons a week for the better part of 10 years; from beginner to advanced, age 9 to retiree, hobbyist to college-prep or gig-ready. He specializes in blues, rock, improvisation and songwriting. What he loves most about teaching is being able to pass on everything he has learned and continues to learn in his 20 years as a musician, helping students take step after step to achieve their musical goals. As an active musician, Chris has been the lead singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist for a local rock band and has performed/recorded as the lead guitarist for a number of other bands/artists. He currently plays for a blues-rock band and is working on writing his 2nd singer-songwriter solo album.

My 15 year-old son started guitar this summer. He has truly enjoyed working with Chris. Chris is patient and encouraging, as well as being a cool guy that my son looks up to.

My 13-years old son was reluctant to take music lessons. He had not liked piano (with a different instructor) when he was younger, but agreed to try guitar. Since the first trial lesson, he has been excited to learn more! Chris is a fun teacher who knows his stuff and who communicates well with both his students and their parents. I have three kids and have found it’s difficult to find a teacher who is responsive to parents + engaging with youth + gifted at music. His rates are very reasonable for our area. His in-home lesson space is professional and comfortable — I get to sit on a comfy couch and get work done during my son’s weekly lesson. In addition, Chris goes above and beyond to make sure the lessons are meeting our expectations. He tracked down strings for us when we accidentally broke one. He has rescheduled lessons due to our busy schedules. He is genuinely kind and such a pleasure to work with — we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Our kids have loved working with Chris. He picks songs they're excited to play, teaches them patiently, and has a lot of fun with them. They've made a ton of progress since they started with Chris, and they're always excited to see him!
