I am a professional pianist and singer with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from top music universities, Oberlin Conservatory and Eastman School of Music. I have been performing professionally for the last 10 years, and my career has taken me to festivals and concert halls across the world. I love meeting new people at my concerts and hearing about what music means to them.
I have been teaching piano and voice since 2013, and have experience with students of all ages and levels. I tailor my lessons to each individual's needs, strengths, and goals, whether they are looking for a fun artistic extracurricular or are building their own careers as serious musicians. My underlying goal for all my students is to inspire in them a lifelong love of music.
As a pianist, I have been classically trained, but also have experience playing by ear and in other styles, including jazz and pop. This allows me to cater to a variety of students who might want to learn piano for different reasons, from entertaining their friends at parties to preparing for serious examinations and auditions. I consider good technique to be the cornerstone of piano playing and I aim to instill a solid foundation in my piano students through technical work alongside repertoire studies. I also believe that developing one's aural skills is as important as one's physical ability, and I incorporate ear training in all of my students' lessons.
As a singer, I have equal experience in classical and popular genres, having won numerous competitions in both. My own experiences experimenting with vocal technique in different musical styles have equipped me to help students who also might be interested in singing different genres. My students love that I am able to accompany them at the piano with any song in their lesson, and even at competitions and performances - I have assisted them in making audition tapes for musical theatre shows and college applications as well.
I also have experience working with special needs students - I was a teacher for the Oberlin Conservatory Autistic Scholarship program, where I worked with a talented young boy for two years and developed creative lesson plans that complemented his strengths and weaknesses.
I have a passion for working with my students to achieve their musical goals and I look forward to meeting you and helping you become the musician you want to be!
