Hello! My name is Cheryl, and I would be delighted to help you reach your music goals! I've been teaching private lessons and classes since 2000. I love helping my students learn how to play their instruments and learn about music, particularly in understanding the elements of music, musicianship, and personal expression. I went to VanderCook College of Music and earned bachelors and masters degree in music education. I also hold teacher licenses in Indiana, Illinois, and California. I have been recognized in the publications "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" and the Rancho Santa Margarita Patch "Whiz Biz". I am a friendly and outgoing person and my teaching style is caring, organized, and fun. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
I have the pleasure and honor of being the high school band director and piano teacher at my school. My students have instrumental music classes five days a week for 45-60 minutes/day. Our curriculum enables them to enjoy performance and learn how to perform with musicianship. They regularly perform concerts at school and for the community. We are especially proud of our after-school drumline and wind ensemble members who have performed at football games, parades, and will soon compete in their first contest.
Since I teach full-time, I offer lessons on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Through using my experience as both a private lessons teacher and a school music teacher, I can help you reach your goals in both at school and as a soloist.
I teach online music appreciation classes for a high school that offers classes for school districts and their academy students. This virtual school enables students to study our world's rich music history at home. I help students reach their class goals and master the curriculum. It's a fun class that I enjoy teaching that earns high school credit!
I teach private lessons, orchestra classes, and early childhood family classes to students of almost any age. I was the lead teacher for the Chicago Fine Arts Field Study, which included participation in VanderCook College of Music's Middle Level HonorFest and string clinic.
I taught elementary and middle school instrumental music classes at several schools. This experience has enabled me to know the curriculum and help students in this district prepare for school classes as well as the district honor festival.
