I am passionate about excellence in music and theater and bringing any individual or group I work with to "the next level," whether they are professional opera singers or raw kids. People I work with find that I have high expectations and that I care that each individual reaches their performance best, while keeping a positive and enthusiastic environment that encourages hard work and musical success. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Washington State University and did Master's work at the University of Washington with concentrations in Theory, Conducting, and Vocal Pedagogy. I am a competent diction coach in Italian, French, German, Spanish, Latin, and Russian, and I currently have a private classical vocal studio of around 40 students. In the recent past my students have performed such diverse roles as Enjolras in Les Miserables (three different students in different productions), Fantine in Les Miserables, Cosette in Les Miserables (two students in two different productions), Young Cosette in Les Miserables, (three students in different productions, including local casting of Broadway tour), Gavroche in Les Miserables (two students in different productions including local casting of Broadway tour), Eponine in Les Miserables (two students in different productions), Rolf in The Sound of Music, Fyetka in Fiddler on the Roof, Bert Healy in Annie, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Link in Hairspray, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Colin in The Secret Garden, Pepper in Annie (two students in different productions), Annie in Annie, Judd in Oklahoma, the Gardener in Le Nozze di Figaro, Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Grantaire in Les Miserables, Liesl, Friedrich, and Kurt in the Sound of Music, Max in the Sound of Music, Feuilly in Les Miserables, Fauchelevant in Les Miserables (local casting of Broadway tour), Uncle Yakuside in Madama Butterfly, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, The Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, The Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz, Glinda in the Wizard of Oz, Yentl in Fiddler on the Roof, Chavaleh in Fiddler on the Roof, and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, as well as numerous performances as ensemble and secondaries in musical theater and opera. I have been performing since I was a child and some photographs of roles are below -- but I believe my students' achievements are more relevant to my teaching than my own! I work comfortably with adults, teenagers, and young children, and lessons with me are detailed and energetic, hard work and lots of fun, with lots of passion and encouragement. Let's sing! Recent review of Fresno Grand Opera's production of Les Miserables: I was the ensemble director and the Enjolras understudy mentioned is one of my students.  *** Lesson Details *** Warm-ups and exercises tailored to specific needs and level of student, progressive work in method book such as Vaccai, Marchesi, or Concone, and performance repertoire and role development. *** Studio Equipment *** N/A *** Specialties *** Turning "good singing" into performance level characterization Teaching pitch matching to beginning students Foreign language diction

Only one place to go to become a phenomenal singer and person! I took lessons with Chavaleh for four or five years. She was always so patient with me and always made me feel so confident, whether it was playing Chopin on the piano or singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables or combining the two with a pop song! She taught me how to chord the piano and sing at the same time as well as how to become technically skilled at each separately. Chavaleh also made me a better person. She exudes warmth and kindness and understanding; I never felt like giving up. She always made me want to keep trying. By far the best mentor I have ever had. Thank you, Chavaleh!

Chavaleh is an excellent voice teacher My child has grown tremendously under Chavaleh's vocal tutelage. I have observed Chavaleh teach and coach voice at all levels to all ages, always to great effect. Whether it's for voice lessons, help with a specific voice problem, diction, language, or any other voice-related issue, I enthusiastically recommend Chavaleh.
