Teaching only watercolor for over 35 consecutive years, I am known as the Crazy Watercolor Lady because I am so crazy about watercolor! lol I absolutely love the medium of watercolor and have so much fun sharing it with my students, watching them grow to advanced work.

I developed a wonderful method of teaching watercolor, taking my beginner students to advanced work very quickly. You can even trace what you'll paint. I taught myself watercolor which helps me understand what my students know, and what they don't know. I teach any subject, such as, portraits of people or pets, landscapes, animals, cityscapes, flowers, abstract, etc. It doesn't matter what subject it is, because it's about light and dark shapes and color, which applies to every subject you paint. It is also about the wonderful techniques of watercolor, such as, salting, spattering, using saran wrap, making skippies, blooms, tickling an edge, fingering, bleeding out, etc. I also teach how to paint on Yupo, a plastic paper, creating beautiful images.

Watercolor is the only medium that paints with the artist and creates beauty that your brush didn't create. I tell my students there are "two artists" painting...themselves and the medium of watercolor. It will surprise and amaze you with beautiful creations apart from your own brush strokes. It is the least expensive medium and has no smell like turpentine with oil painting.

It is easy to learn and so rewarding and fun! Let's get started!

About Charlotte L.

I am still in love with watercolor after teaching it for over 35 years, and no other medium. I am loyal to watercolor only and have so much fun sharing it with my students, hoping they fall in love with it, too.

I taught myself to paint watercolor after being an oil artist selling my work years ago. I was homeschooling my kids and was teaching drawing to other students, as well as my own. It was a way I could afford to stay home. After teaching every technique of drawing, the parents asked me to teach painting to their children. I had 10 kids at a time in each class over my light cream-colored carpet, so I knew I could not teach them oil painting with staining paints and turpentine. I could not afford to lose my students or the income, so the Lord and me went to the store and bought a book and watercolor paints. I told the parents I would stay one painting ahead of my students each week and teach them watercolor. I fell in love with the medium immediately and never opened my oil paints ever again in 35 years. Amazing, huh? I have never quit teaching watercolor even after my own kids went into public high school, then college, and on to their successful careers.

I am so thankful I quit painting oil and learned watercolor. It creates a glow from the white paper through the transparent paint, especially if you know how through a teacher that understands the medium, as I do. I get praises from my students often, telling me they are amazed at how much I know and understand about watercolor, and able to share it with them, taking them to a deeper understanding, as well. I have a lot of made-up words and phrases about different techniques that make my students laugh. I believe in having fun!

If you want to learn this beautiful medium, I can teach you everything you need to know. I can help you develop the style that interests you, whether you like a tight approach or a loose one. Or maybe you want to paint more on dry paper, or use the medium to its fullest potential by using the wet-on-wet approach more, creating unbelievable techniques that take your breath away. The medium will paint with you and do things you could not do by yourself using your brushes.

As you can see from the above note, I am convinced I can teach you watercolor and take you to advanced work quickly, even if you think you have no talent or have never done any art. Painting is a skill you can learn, and drawing is not needed because you can trace what you want to paint.

I have always been inspired by artists that have a talent for watercolor painting; their works of art are beautiful! One of a kind! It was time for me to take a class and learn how it's done by an experienced teacher. I found the perfect teacher, Ms. Charlotte who has 35+ years of experience. My first class ever; I was initially intimidated; but I quickly got over myself and went outside the lines. I was so intuned with the fasination of why I was there. Charlotte is very gifted, knowledgeable, patient, and explains in a student-friendly manner that is easy to understand. She shares what materials/supplies are needed and why; and examples of each technique. Charlotte encourages each student to reflect individual creativity. In my eyes, I made my first masterpiece. So grateful I have a teacher with a passion of art that is humble with her gifts. She wants to share the happiness and joy of Watercolors with others. Looking forward to my next class.
