My philosophy is this: the only way to learn how to photograph is to actually go out and photograph. That is why, starting on Week 2, and continuing every other week after, we will go out to location and take pictures. We'll work together, photographing the same objects and people, as we collaborate as equals to get the best possible photos. The following week we'll stay inside to edit and compare our photos, and learn a bit of theory. 

So! Even numbered weeks we go to location and photograph. Odd numbered weeks we stay in, edit, and learn a bit of history and theory.

What's the first lesson like then? We learn about each other! We share our history of photography, our goals and dreams, what you're looking to learn, and more. The first lesson is extremely important, as from that I'll tailor and create a custom lesson plan that exactly suits your goals, knowledge, and learning style.

I have working experience in multiple types of photography, including street, architecture, travel, journalistic, portraiture, macro, black and white, long exposure, slow shutter, astrophotography, and more. I have experience with Sony, Fuji, Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic cameras and glass.

I like to cover a wide breadth of topics and subjects in our lessons, as I believe that it's better to know a bit of everything and be able to borrow from that bank of knowledge than be just a master of one.

I have worked in the film and photography industry for over six years now. I started in Florida, where I got hired by a prominent Disney producer to be his go-to creative. With him, I filmed and photographed for major companies like TED, Disney, and Universal. I then moved out to Los Angeles, and was quickly hired by Warner Bros. to help with their social media. Then, in August 2016, I was hired by a leading advertising agency in Downtown as a creative editor and camera operator. 

During all of this I taught myself how to photograph, and it has since become one of my strongest passions. My photography work has appeared in magazines around the world, including Variety and the Wall Street Journal, and I am on retainer for leading educational institutions and web platforms. 

With that said, my favorite type of photography is undoubtably street and travel. Traveling to a new place to discover and share the location's culture and history through photography is an activity I truly love.
