    About celine F.

Flute and Piccolo Music Pedagogue Celine-Marie, B.A., M.M., comes to you with over 20 years’ experience as a professional musician. She is a member of the Seattle Flute Society and the National Flute Association. Ms. F was the president of the Seattle Flute Society in 2001-2003. She is an active chamber and orchestral musician, woodwind clinician, adjudicator, and instructor.  Ms. F developed the “Celine F Flute School” (2009) in Adigrat, Tigray, Ethiopia, the first flute school of its kind for Ethiopia.  She began this program by bringing 8 flutes and taught 10 orphaned girls of the St. Lucy School.  From this the school grew into 50 students offering music education to the orphaned girls, the teachers, students of the St. Lucy School, and members of the Adigrat community.  In the following 18 months Ms. F brought an additional 40 flutes, music, and music stands to support the learning program for this school.  In 2012 Ms. F opened her second flute school for children of veterans at the Nikolas Robinson School in Mekelle, Tigray, Ethiopia. Today both schools are self-contained and supported by local staff and students with a continuous stream of learners. Inspired by the musical developments of her flute schools in 2011 Ms. F established and became the cofounder of the B.A. Music Degree program for Mekelle University in the Northeastern Region of Tigray, Ethiopia. She assisted in the establishment of their music department and developed the 2nd higher Bachelor of Arts music degree program in Ethiopia. Her music curriculum has been accepted as the National B.A. Music Curriculum for Ethiopia. In Ethiopia and from her past experience Ms. F provided workshops in pedagogy, music methodology and masterclasses.  In addition to her excellent skills as a flutist and pedagogue she has great knowledge in music theory, solfeggio, and music history. She also worked with other scholars in Ethiopian music and the preservation of the Ethiopian musical culture. She assisted several schools on music curriculum development and teacher workshops in music methodology. She developed after school music programs in several of the primary schools in Mekelle and assisted creating new sources of employment for graduated musicians through these programs and others.   Ms F gave concerts throughout Ethiopia and performed with Ethiopia’s finest musicians. Ms. F currently now lives in the Seattle metropolitan area where she runs her private flute studio and continues her freelance work as a professional musician and educator. In addition to Ms. F's active musical lifestyle she is the mother of four children, enjoys cooking, gardening, assisting the underserved and engaging with different cultural backgrounds.
