*** Lesson Details *** I have been teaching piano to students of all skill and experience levels, from basic beginners to conservatory level performers for more than 20 years. I offer piano lessons to children and adults, Accelerate Piano is geared toward students ages 5 through 17. In these self-paced classes, students work to acquire and hone their skills through innovative teaching and learning methods. My teaching style is a welcome change from traditional piano instruction methods. In these traditional methods, students watch, learn, and listen as the piano instructor plays, and then they are sent home to practice. In my methods, students learn and play their music on site with me, which offers the student more opportunities to get feedback from me and to identify which skills and music he or she may need to focus on during at-home practice. This method is how professionals practice and is one that I believe lead to better success. During their lessons, students are taught their music hands-on instead of watching an instructor. This hands-on method is proven to result in a student progressing more quickly through their beginner books, which has profound effects on a young student’s confidence and joy in music. My studio is conveniently located in Chelsea area in Manhattan. ***Cassandra's Bio*** Ms. Wang began her piano study in Shen Yang, China at age 6. At 8, she won first prize in both the city-wide and state-wide piano competitions for her age group. She attended both the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in Shanghai, China, and The Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music in Moscow, Russia. In the 1990s, she began her teaching career at Shen Yang Conservatory of Music, and, during this time, she won “The Best Accompanist” at China’s First National Voila Competition and the Gold Cup (1st Prize) at the International Folk Music Invitational Competition in Hong Kong. In 2004, Ms. Wang came to the U.S. to continue her piano studies, receiving a Master’s Degree of Music in Piano Performance from Westminster Choir College in 2011. She has performed at St. Patrick's Cathedral, on ABC's "Good Morning America," and in Yankee Stadium where her audience was Pope Benedict XVI. At Princeton’s Richardson Auditorium, she performed the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2 Op.18 as a soloist with the Princeton Sinfonia Orchestra *** Studio Equipment *** Upright piano and electric pianos in music room w/ seating area for parents *** Specialties *** I teach piano to students of all skill levels and experience, from basic beginners to conservatory level performers.and I have provided the curriculum for and coached dozens of my students through all eight levels of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. It is a pleasure to be able to study and learn from Cassandra. She is a talented professional piano player but is patient and relaxed about teaching beginners. I have learned a lot, even though I don't have a lot of time to study. I have improved my sight reading significantly thanks to her. Totally recommend her!

I have been teaching piano to students of all skill and experience levels, from basic beginners to conservatory level performers for more than 20 years. I approach instruction according to the individual goals and preferences of each student. However, reading music, training the ear, understanding theory, and having the proper technique make a pianist into a strong and versatile performer. I have provided the curriculum for and coached dozens of my students through all eight levels of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, almost every one of my students have passed their levels with ‘distinction’. My studio is conveniently located at Chelsea area in Manhattan.
