Hello there! I've been playing bassoon for decades, and teaching regularly for over 10 years. I have a Masters degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Arizona and play in all sorts of ways all around Southern Arizona and internationally. My students age from adult all the way down to 5th grade and every lesson is tailored to the individual needs of the student, focusing on a strong foundation and musicality. Students are encouraged to perform solos twice per year, listen to bassoon recordings and videos, practice regularly and attend lessons, and to participate in community ensembles and performing groups. Also registered with the Music Link Foundation and on faculty with the Casas Adobes Fine Arts Academy, as well as teaching out of the Music and Dance Academy of Tucson and Oro Valley spaces when teaching in person is again happening. My daughter has been taking lessons with Cassandra for 7 years. She is knowledgeable, kind, caring, and compassionate. She dedicates herself to her students and goes above and beyond to create educational experiences both in and outside the classroom. Her prices are very reasonable and she devotes extra time and energy to ensure all the tools needed for success with a double reed instrument are in place. She works well with beginning elementary students all the way through to college students auditioning for elite music studios. She is well connected in the bassoon community. It would be impossible to find a better instructor. My daughter will miss her when she is away in college.

I switched from trombone to bassoon in my sophomore year of high school and took lessons with Cassandra for my junior and senior years. In that time, I learned faster and better than with any music instructor I've had in my life. Part of it was the necessity of learning how to play at a high school level incredibly rapidly, but most of it was due to Cassandra making it easy and fun to learn and practice. She was amazing at identifying bad habits or roadblocks before they became huge issues that were hard to address and coming up with solutions to help me get past them. And more than anything, she made me confident enough in my skill to truly enjoy practicing and playing again.

Wonderfully motivating and terrifically skilled at teaching music, Cassandra was a blessed find for us as a bassoon teacher. Her knowledge of bassoon is extensive -and not just for playing and learning music - where to rent, how find quality supplies at a reasonable cost, on the fly simple repairs, who to go for more complex instrument maintenance,etc.... Lastly her connections in our local community allow for exposure and advancement if that is your kid’s path - or just fun and some enjoyable, confidence building performance experiences
