Hi! My name is Carolyn. I am from Missouri, and I have recently graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Spanish Education. I spent last year living in Oaxaca, México, studying Spanish and teaching English. I love teaching and helping students understand concepts. I have a passion for languages, so that makes the learning/teaching process a lot more fun for both of us!
Aside from teaching, I love to spend time with friends and family, go salsa dancing, and spend time outdoors.
I look forward to working with and teaching you! :-)
I graduated in May of 2019 with my undergraduate degree in Spanish Education, and I spent the past several months completing my student teaching at Central High School (students range in age from 13 to 18). I have lower-level Spanish classes, as well as a high-level course where we practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking at the advanced level.
As a student teacher, I have complete control of the classroom. I plan lessons, conduct tutoring, create and administer assessments, handle grades, engage with parents, and all the while I am subject to the observations of my supervisor, my cooperating teacher, and the school's administrative staff.
Although I will be saddened to leave this school, this experience has broadened my eyes to the world of teaching and helped me to grow as an educator. I am eager to continue teaching and to share my passion for world languages with my future students.
I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at a private language school located in Oaxaca, México. I had students ranging in ages from 4 to 50, and I taught a wide variety of subjects within the English language, especially grammar and reading classes. I was responsible for all course preparation, grades, and administering exams.
It came time for me to return to the USA in August of last year, but working at Nágora was a tremendous experience that helped me to grow and develop my skills as a world language teacher.
Carolyn was a true blessing to work with in all aspects. She was a very thorough instructor and it was obvious that she did her best to accommodate students of all proficiency levels and age groups. She was very kind yet maintained excellent classroom management. I was very grateful to have known her.+ Read More
Carolyn is one of the most fluent Spanish speaking Americans I know, and it's more than just a language to her, she integrates it into her everyday life, so much so that even her social media is set to a different language as well as her phone!
