About Carolyn M.

5.0
(50)
Ages taught: 8 and up Born and raised in New York, Carolyn began working professionally at 8 years old and has since appeared on stage, in national commercials, recorded voiceovers, and booked principal roles in both film and television. A graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music (BFA Musical Theatre, emphasis in directing), Carolyn is a veteran member of SAG/AFTRA/AEA. In her spare time, Carolyn has always loved working with people who have a passion for the arts. Her impressive client roster ranges from celebrities and Broadway professionals to children and adults who wish to explore the arts. Whether it’s in a classroom, at a dance studio, or sitting at the piano, Carolyn has worn the many hats of acting coach, voice teacher, dance instructor, music theory tutor, piano teacher, and college audition coach to name a few. Getting cast in Broadway shows, winning first place in national dance competitions, receiving perfect scores on vocal/piano NYSSMA solos, and being accepted to some of the most competitive college programs in the nation are just a few of her clients’ many accomplishments. Influenced by country music artists like Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill, along with pop icons Kelly Clarkson and Adele, Carolyn has used her big, powerful voice to create her own style that captures the true essence of country-pop. She released her debut EP in 2018 independently, which peaked during pre-order at No. 7 on iTunes Country charts. Since then, Carolyn has opened for artists such as Chase Rice, Ashley McBryde, Walker Hayes, and most recently, kicked off NY’s Country 94.7 Stars and Strings event at the Barclays Center starring Sam Hunt, Dustin Lynch, Chris Janson, Runaway June, and more. Carolyn has been seen on an impressive list of outlets including Hollywood Life, CMT, Taste of Country, Sounds Like Nashville, Country Rebel, The Boot and her songs/videos have been added into rotation on Music Choice and The Country Network. Splitting residency between New York and Nashville, Carolyn has already begun to make a name for herself in Music City, being tapped "One to Watch" by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and a Next Up Now artist by CMT. Despite the circumstances of this unprecedented time, Carolyn still made “2020 an impressive year" (NYCountry Swag). Her first release of the year ["Ain't About That"] reached 130,000+ streams and was added into rotation on Music Choice Pop & Country Channel. The song was also named Country Line "Single of the Week" on Chris Country Radio (UK), voted fan favorite on 104.7 WAYZ and was featured on several media outlets including Digital Journal, Celeb Secrets, Music Mayhem Magazine, NYCountry Swag, among others. Carolyn followed that up with "ALL IN", which received support from Radio Disney Country (song of the week + added into new music rotation), NY's Country 94.7 (WNSH), CMT, The Morning Hangover, Spotify's New Music Nashville editorial playlist, and more. The track also achieved 100,000+ streams to date. Driven by her passion for performing, Carolyn has turned to livestreaming during her time quarantined, delivering over 100 livestream concerts for various radio stations, media outlets, music venues, and even (virtually) hosting and performing in various high profile events and online festivals. Carolyn sang the national anthem for the NY Mets and hosted (as well as performed on) both of Music Mayhem's virtual country festivals alongside Billy Ray Cyrus, Walker Hayes, Tenille Townes, and more. Additionally, her live acoustic cover of "When You Say Nothing At All'' was featured on Country Rebel, amassing nearly 500,000 views. Carolyn's vivacious and "enthusiastic personality" (Sounds Like Nashville) has drawn in followers of all ages -- from all over the world -- and there’s no sign of her slowing down. “Covid can’t stop the music. It can’t stop our passion. It is our duty as artists to spread joy and love, especially in the darkest times. Music is needed now more than ever.”

Carolyn is an awesome teacher. She is skilled in many areas and uses those skills to educate and inspire others. During our lessons together she taught me a few ways that I can become more aware while practicing voice acting. She had me read different scripts that were used in real auditions. I appreciate how Carolyn creates the lesson plan according to your goals. It is clear that she is passionate in all that she does. I look forward to future lessons

Carolyn is so awesome! I approached lessons as a complete beginner and I'm now starting to find my footing more and more with each lesson. I feel like everything I learn is immediately applicable, too. Carolyn is great about breaking down what works for my voice and helping me find the strength (and courage!) to wield it. I couldn't be happier!
