I am a professional fine art photographer, with over 10 years experience shooting events, children's sports, real estate, travel, nature, street, and architecture photography. After shooting a few weddings, I decided it wasn’t my preference. I also create digital art using my own images with various Apple apps for iPad and iPhone. I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in vocal and choral Music. I taught K-12 music education both in public and private schools. Photography students can expect to improve week to week with daily shooting practice between lessons. Everyone sees things from a personal perspective. I teach students the basics of composition and techniques to experiment and eventually find their visual voice. With instruction and practice, any student can create their art with confidence. As a professional photographic artist I frequently enjoy both photo workshops and tours for my own growth and to broaden my experience with more advanced photographers than myself. Before long, students will find themselves seeing things they never noticed before and be able to make images they will be proud to hang on their walls. My personal passion is helping others really see their surroundings by being mindful and alert - both in general and through their camera lens. During each session, we will take photos within walking distance and/or travel to local places, such as downtown Portland and nearby parks. We will also review images and discuss what makes them successful and where improvements can be made. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to tell your story with your art.
