    About Carlos R.

Hi! As you may have noticed, my name is Carlos. I am the kind of person that aims to be pleasant yet candid, humorous and light hearted yet dilligent and thorough. I am a composer, living in the constant struggle of reigning in creativity in order to give it form and make beautiful and meaningful music. I love playing the guitar because it allows me to express my musical ideas in ways that no other instrument can. I love teaching guitar because I understand how rewarding the instrument can be both to the soul and to the mind; the guitar is a very challenging but highly rewarding instrument. In 2014 I graduated with a degree in Music Composition and Theory from the University of Texas. In 2016 I was the winner of the statewide Austin Classical Guitar Composition Competition for my work "Fugata y Danza". I currently teach music composition, production, guitar, bass, piano, and drums, at a local after-school program to over 120 students. It is truly an honor and joy to use music as a tool to positively impact the lives of so many youths. I hope we get to work together and learn together!
