I am a composer and have taught professionally for over 20 years. I taught at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Musicians Institute, the Cornel School of Music and the California College of Music.

I worked in New York, Boston and later in Los Angeles with many songwriters, producers and vocalists.
With my songwriting students, I work on their melodic development, chord progressions, song forms and how to create music drawing from the best contemporary resources. As a pianist, composer and producer, I am able to assist in giving shape to the songs and ideas of songwriters.

My classes are always fun, stress free but with a strong curriculum, organized and dynamic.
Onsite, I teach music at my studio in Los Angeles. My studio is located in the historical Village Green.
Online, I teach music via Skype or Zoom using different cameras to enhance the music lesson experience.

I would love to work with you!

I found Carlos extremely easy to work with and he definitely knows what he's doing! This is my first voice lesson ever and I was very intimidated before starting. Carlos made me feel very comfortable and wow, did I ever learn a lot in this first lesson. I used to play the piano when I was quite young but have lost much of my ability. Carlos helped me with the keyboard in addition to teaching me correct breathing and testing my voice range. I look forward to my lesson next week!

Carlos has been an excellent mentor, instructor in my music journey so far. He has guided me in not only academic areas, but also career and business areas.

I still remember his Ear Training lessons from 8 years ago, which was how I met him. He opened up my perception to music in ways I didn't know existed. To this day I continue to learn from him and I will forever be grateful to him.

He is one of the kindest people I have met and genuinely cares for his students growth.

I was very impressed, so much that I started taking piano lessons from him. Carlos has all this curriculum and books and media that he has developed. Very good stuff! I still use his book on Open Jazz Voicings. I haven't even finished a third of the book and still find new uses every day when I play. I also found useful the way Carlos had me visualize intervals on the keyboard in order to play in all different keys. He also helped me with my ears and reading music.

He was very helpful with so much patience.
Also he has his own material which he’d been teaching 20 years experience in Berklee, NEC, MI, CSCM,, etc.
So I could trust him and he had very deep thought and clear about what he teach.
We had some conversations while the private lesson was going on... lots of story that he told me was amazing and unbelievable. Not only The theory and the knowledge that you would get from him, also whole lot of different variety of infusions he will provide and it will help you improve as a musicIan and as an artist.
Thank you Carlos!!
