Carla G.

Teaching Locations:

I have experience teaching at American Sign Language (ASL) Camp at Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf. I taught students from a range of grades, typically students from Elementary to Junior High. I constantly look for ways to give back to the Deaf community, such as mentoring and giving the advice to serve them best.
I use various tools such as flashcards that contain words, pictures, and vocabulary in order to build language skills. I will use educational videos that explain topics such as Deaf Culture. I will also use storytelling videos ana will adapt to a range of ages. I will provide American Sign Language (ASL) levels to match each age group.
I will have books for your first trial lesson and come and see for yourself! If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.
I look forward to meeting you!

Carla did an excellent jon

Carla was great. We had trouble connecting for the first 12 minutes due to internet issues but once we did, session was good. Thanks Carla!

Carla is very generous with her time. She does Volunteer work in and around her Community not only for hearing impaired but those who need assistance visually. American Sign language is her first language, She has and can be an asset in teaching Adults & Children.

Carla is very patient and calm. She has a good awareness of both hearing and deaf culture! I highly recommend her as an ASL teacher. I am happy to have met her and to have her as a continued resource for sign language questions.

Carla is understanding, and flexible. Is able to stay calm and patient with me after messing up the sign over 10 times. Highly recommend her.

I have been involved with Sign Language for several years now and Carla has been a major part in helping me progress in learning this language. She has a great amount of patience in teaching. Being that Carla is deaf herself you get the true understanding of the language.
You will not be disappointed!

Carla is not only an amazing ASL language instructor, her kindness and personal attention make learning easy and fun. She has so much insight not only on the language but the culture and how to be a successful language learner. I would giver her 10 stars but the ratings only go to 5!!

Carla help me learn ASL. She's very patient and helpful. Explains not just signs, but visual communication and culture.

Great teacher she taught me a lot! And was very patient and very nice.

Carla is great! She is so patient and super kind. She is good at following my pace so I’m comfortable and keeps it exciting.

Carla is very available to help. Just tell her what you need and she’s open to offer support. ASL is fun to learn and Carla is a great person to start with.

Friendly & skilled teacher. Such a plus that she is deaf. Real life experience with culture. Learn a lot!

I am fluent in American Sign Language now. Carla was the first person to ever teach me me sign language. She was very patient with me and was always encouraging. It motivated me to keep learning. She taught me about Deaf culture and I value all her efforts in helping me. To be taught by a Deaf person directly is invaluable.

She is very patient, kind and down to earth.

Extremely patient and kind. Explains everything very clearly. Has good foundation with different teaching techniques and technical knowledge. Highly recommend!
