Carla has been a great upright bass teacher for my niece. She made the experience enjoyable and helped my niece to improve her technical skills. I appreciate Carla making the lessons relatable to my niece's experience level and for helping to motivate her in her practice. My niece learned a lot from her which helped her to perform more confidently in her school orchestra. Thanks again Carla.

Carla was my very first bass instructor over 20 years ago. As a teenager I remember being so in awe of her skill on the guitar and the stringed instrument and her knowledge of music as a whole. Watching and listening to her play was one of the main reasons I first decided I wanted to play in a band and she took me from an absolute beginner who knew nothing, to being able to jam with people, rehearse with a band, and even to playing on stage. Carla's teaching and passion for music was so influential for me and really laid the foundation for what would lead me through several different band opportunities from original music to cover bands and all sorts of styles of music. Music has been and will always be a passion and a hobby of mine but also has been a source of income and all of that is only possible because of Carla. I am so grateful and whenever someone asks how I got started playing bass I always mention my awesome neighbor who lived down the street and taught me so much of what I know about music. I highly recommend taking lessons from this true professional, incredibly talented musician, and genuinely good person who strives to impact people and the world around her. She's definitely one of the best!

There are teachers who teach the skills and techniques needed to learn and master an instrument, and then there are those that live, breathe and passionately pursue an understanding of an instrument: it's history, it's purpose, it's boundaries, and beyond. Carla is most assuredly the latter, and lives her life in pursuit of consistently bettering herself and those around her musically, but also emotionally, physically and spiritually. Carla's ability to embrace music, beyond her mind, but into her soul allows her to pass along instruction and teaching that goes beyond mere knowledge, and delves into the heart and power of music's ability to move us in ways so far deeper than "enjoying it." With so much extensive professional experience, and a full pursuit of life, health and wellness, there is no better teacher you could consider. I recommend Carla, without reservation, to anyone considering any of the many instruments she's so proficient in. Thank you, Carla, for changing my life through music!

    Freelance

I started my musical endeavors on guitar when I was 7, and in high school picked up electric and acoustic bass. I have been playing professionally for about 15 years, and currently make my living as a freelance orchestral musician and electric bassist. I play with The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Andrea Bocelli, New West Symphony, other LA Based Orchestras and projects or services requiring upright bass.
