Carey Viton has been teaching private lessons since 1976 and is currently available to teach lessons at your home, and online. Carey has helped students become proficient in different styles of music (rock, pop, jazz and classical), increased their confidence and self esteem , improved ability to improvise and achieve a greater understanding of music theory.
Carey Viton received his training at The Ohio State University in 1976 where he received a Bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. As an expert in his field, Carey looks forward to helping new students achieve their goals. Carey's teaching style is patience with a good amount of humor!
Mr. Viton has performed with many top names in both jazz and pop music. In 1975 he performed at
the Montreaux Jazz Fest in Switzerland. Other performances include concert and clinic settings with
Ed Shaugnessy, Sonny Stitt, Art Pepper and Lou Marini. Pop music experience includes work with
Lou Christie, Bobby Rydell and the Moondog Coronation Concert. He served as the musical director
for the show band 'Barbara Paul'. Carey was a founding member of the Bruno Brothers Band. Carey
is presently working for Jerry Bruno Productions as a solo pianist and member of the Tony Camerato
Band. He has worked with many very talented local musicians.
After earning his Music Therapy credentials at BaldwinWallace
College he worked with severely
emotionally disturbed youth in a residential treatment center for close to 20 years. His music therapy
curriculum included individual music lessons, clinical improvisation, song writing, talent shows, music
video production, and both vocal and instrumental ensembles. As Clinical Training Director he
supervised 12 Music Therapy interns.
