I'm a professional violist in the Tucson Symphony Orchestra with ten years of experience teaching violin and viola. I teach students of all ages and levels. Music has taught me about resilience, creativity, and community – I love sharing these gifts with my students.

About Candice A.

My teaching style is tailored to each student's personality and goals. As a professional violist, private teacher, and Visiting Professor of Viola (University of Arizona), my experience helps me find creative and effective ways to help my students learn the violin or viola. I specialize in teaching young beginners (ask me about the Suzuki Method!), adult learners of any level, and middle/high school students. I also teach advanced students who are focused on mastering major repertoire for college or professional auditions.

During this time of social distancing, music can be a wonderful way to stay connected and explore a creative outlet. Join me to explore the joys and challenges of learning the violin or viola.

Candice has been our teacher in Tucson for the past five years and she is absolutely wonderful. She makes lessons enjoyable, and she’s helpful with getting my son through the more challenging parts of learning the violin. She really cares about her students and it shows!

As a complete novice but a bit older than most students, I really appreciated Ms. Amato's patience and willingness to tailor lessons to those things I would find most fulfilling but that would still provide the skills I need to improve my playing.

Candice is a great teacher! She helps me find ways of figuring out the really hard spots in the pieces I’m working on. she also helped me improve my music reading skills and now we’re working on music theory. Definitely recommend!
