Hello! I'm Callista, a third year Global Health major and Psychology minor at UC San Diego. I love tutoring students because it allows me to give back the knowledge, confidence, and patience all my tutors have taught me. I really enjoy teaching different students and learning about the ways they think and process information, as it also helps me improve my way of thinking and teaching. I understand how frustrating some topics can be but like how my tutors empowered me and gave me confidence to endure the frustration, I would love to give back through empathy and figuring out the best ways for a student to learn. Through my tutoring experiences, I enjoyed witnessing the growth of the students and see their strengths be reinforced and their weaknesses gradually becoming their strengths. In terms of experience, I've been playing violin for 15 years and viola for 10. I have experience mentoring students for state exams and in sight reading. The techniques and skills that I have developed through my teachers and personal experiences are invaluable and I would love to share them! In regards to math, I have been tutoring elementary-middle school level students for around 3 years. I've received 35 (ACT Math), 740 (SAT Math), and 4 (AP Calculus AB). I am confident in my abilities and would gladly help students achieve the scores they desire. In my free time, I enjoy watching TV shows, listening to music, and embroidering! I hope to get a Masters in Public Health and go to dental school after graduating!
