I believe good reliable technique is the foundation every musician needs to achieve excellence and the ability to express themselves. Beginners through advanced musicians of all ages are all welcome in my studio! I work especially well with intermediate and advanced teens and adult beginners or "late starters". 
Online lessons do NOT have to be a compromise! Many of my students have progressed beyond what I thought possible when we switched to virtual lessons.

I like to pinpoint specific issues or challenges and find a tailored solution that will work for YOU, and find the best techniques to unlock your individual musicality. My goal is to teach you how to teach yourself when practicing, so you will eventually have the confidence to play what you desire.
I teach violin and viola. I have a Bachelors and Masters in viola performance and I have played violin since childhood.
I am a Suzuki trained teacher but also include traditional learning, and beginner fiddle techniques. As an experienced Baroque violinist I can teach lessons in period performance practice as well.

I'm Caitlin and I want to help you reach your goals with musicianship, technique, and confidence playing the violin or viola! 
With Bachelors and Masters degrees from top music schools and over 13 years of teaching experience, I can give you the tools you need to reach your full potential.

Being the parent of a 5 year old daughter, my wife and I were quite careful on choosing what we considered to be a good violin teacher, especially given the fact we would be bringing this person into our home (in-home lessons).  From the beginning Caitlin demonstrated being capable of teaching a child, making every effort to make classes fun, and to encourage our daughter to practice.  Her professionalism, patience and dedication were visible in all her lessons.  We were quite sad to hear she was moving outside of NY.  Searching for a new teacher proved quite difficult as she set the bar quite high.

In summary, Caitlin not only met, but exceeded our expectations.  I highly recommend her.
