I have been teaching and tutoring for almost a decade, and have been a performer for much longer than that. In fact, my students often consider me more of an "edu-tainer" than a teacher. I have been a stage and film actor for over ten years, and have taken classes at The Barrow Group and with some of the top casting directors in NYC in on-camera acting, commercial, and voice over. My stage credits include "Marisol" (Marisol), "Fifth of July" (Gwen), "Brighton Beach Memoirs" (Kate), "The Laramie Project" (Reggie Fluty & others), "Women Behind Bars" (Gloria), "Travels with my Aunt" (Actor V), and "Electra" (Orestes), among others. I have directed full stage productions of Stephen Belber’s “Tape,” Kia Corthron’s “Breath, Boom,” and John Kolvenbach’s “Love Song.” In 2009, I co-founded a theatre production company with Janice Yang, erecting a showcase featuring original short plays, writing one of my own and directing two of the plays. I've also been involved in Truant Arts’ Fast and Loose 48-hour play festival as a writer. My more recent work has mainly been on-camera, as an actor as well as a writer-director. I've been featured in many independent films in the NYC and Boston areas, and I’ll soon be premiering the pilot for a new comedic web series, for which I serve as writer, director, and lead actor. Earlier this year, I shot a guest starring role in a new true crime series for the Biography Channel. I hold a BA from Wellesley College and an MFA from Boston University. *** Lesson Details *** Above all, my goal is to always make students feel as comfortable and confident as possible and to make the learning experience fun and engaging for them. Considering how vulnerable acting can be, this is doubly important when I’m coaching both new and experienced actors. As a coach, I have mainly worked privately with somewhat experienced actors, helping them unlock scripts for shows that they're currently in or monologues they'd like to work. I'm happy to work with beginner actors looking to get a solid set of skills and tools to get started, students looking to dip their toe into acting for fun, or experienced actors needing help with a certain piece, audition help, or an introduction to a new style or medium (for example, theater actors looking to try or transition into film). Whatever your immediate and long-term goals are as an actor, I’ll adjust accordingly to make our sessions the most fulfilling and productive they can possibly be. Since I've also been a director and a teacher for many years, I have a wealth of plays and film/TV sides to bring to the table, but I’m more than open to working on material of your choice. *** Travel Equipment *** I am happy to provide selections from plays, films, and TV shows, and monologues. Students who are looking to work on specific material should be able to provide that. *** Specialties *** I am proficient in acting styles both for stage and on-camera, including Meisner technique. I am also qualified to teach commercial and voice over acting.
