    About Byron C.

I'm currently a graduate student at New Mexico State University pursuing my master's degree in instrumental conducting. For three years, I taught band in grades 6-12 at a small school in southern Arizona. I am and always will be a band enthusiast! When I finish my master's degree, my hope is to get back in the classroom and have a large high school band program! I am originally from Rochester Hills, Michigan - a suburb north of Detroit. I received my bachelor's degree in music education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo before moving to the southwest in the summer of 2016. In addition to my teaching career, I love performing for fun! Whether there's an opportunity at a community event to play as a soloist or if it's with a collegiate or community ensemble, I love making music. My genre of specialty is concert/classical, but I'm also a well-rounded musician who enjoys a wide range of styles. I believe that fundamental skills are essential for all styles. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a better musician!
