I'm a composer, pianist, and educator living in Lawrence, Kansas. I have a Master's degree in Music Composition from the University of Kansas where I focused on jazz, vocal, piano and film writing.

Since finishing school, I've been a professional composer writing for jazz bands, educational piano literature, and film music. I've also been a private piano and composition instructor in the area for about five years and feel at home teaching any age or skill level.

As a pianist, I have a strong background in jazz piano and pop/rock genres, however, I performed several classical solo piano recitals throughout my schooling and have been a judge for a few solo piano and composition competitions in the area.

I strongly believe that students will practice on their own if they enjoy the material. It's my job to create a custom curriculum based around each student's interests. No matter the skill level or age, I will make sure the music we play is something you like to listen to and want to learn.

During my time at KU, I was awarded two Student Music Awards in DownBeat magazine for composition in jazz writing categories in both large ensemble writing, and small group writing. Also, I was recently named an honorable mention in the 2017 New York Youth Symphony First Music Commissions for his piece, "Down to the Wire.", and have arranged large jazz ensemble pieces for Kneebody, Walter Smith Jr. III, Sons of Brasil, and Alaturka. I was also named 2nd Place in the Kansas Choral Composition Prize for his SATB piece from Christina Rossetti’s poem, “Echo.”

Most recently I composed original music for the Museum of Modern Art’s short film series, “How To See”. My music was also used in Brandon Daley's short film "Savasana" which was premiered at the 2016 Slamdance film festival in Utah, "Chicken Tuesdays”, and “Technology Lake” which was one of twelve films selected to compete at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea and the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. I was also the composer for Australian filmmaker Malcolm Burt's documentary, "Signature Attraction", and for the KU Theater Department with Dr. Jane Barnette's production of "Late: A Cowboy Song" by Sara Ruhl.

In my free time, I like to teach private piano lessons, cook, and take my dog, Korra, to the dog park.
