After 10 years of teaching and performing in NYC, I moved to Los Angeles to be near family. I can't wait to share the knowledge I've learned (from Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music faculty, Broadway musical directors, composers, casting directors and coaches) with my students.  My career is varied and special: *I taught theater to elementary kids in Harlem *I taught Voice and Piano at a performing arts school in Connecticut and with Little Maestros (NYC's premiere infant and toddler music classes) *I performed regionally and internationally with major opera companies and regional theaters. * I sing jazz and cabaret gigs in NYC and LA My Education: BM in Voice from Manhattan School of Music Music Education at SDSU, Musical Theater at NYU  *** Lesson Details *** Brittany is a fun, patient, caring, enthusiastic Piano and Voice teacher who is devoted to seeing her students excel and enjoy music!  In your lessons…  PIANO students: warm- up with scales, chords, arpeggios and music theory. Testing student's knowledge with theory and making it fun (we may play a game of "Beat the Teacher!"). Sight-reading, proper sitting, hand and finger position, and learning a new song weekly. Students are expected to practice, ideally, a half hour a day. I usually teach with the Alfred books, but it depends on the student's interests, what books they want to purchase or already own.  VOICE students: physical and vocal warm ups; breath; increasing range; help with diction if learning French, German or Italian art songs; learning the Vocal Structures with an introduction to the Estill voice method; learning relaxation methods for performance jitters; College Prep- guidance for schooling (Conservatory vs. a major university- benefits of both!) how to audition; sight-singing and theory.   You will develop a solid classical technique to help in all genres of music: Jazz, Musical Theater, Pop/Rock and Classical.  Brittany's students range from 3 years to 70 years of age. Whether you are a parent who is introducing your child to piano, or a teenager preparing for the high school musical or a seasoned vaudeville actress wanting to brush up on your skills, Brittany will create a lesson plan designed to your individual learning style, interests and goals. *** Studio Equipment *** Teaches in her home studio with a baby grand piano.  A nominal $20.00 music fee to purchase books is required. OR students may purchase required book at a local music store

Great teacher, pretty professional and helpful! She is pretty professional, nice, and patient teacher. I was really off pitch at the very beginning; but up till now, I've improved a lot through Brittany's singing classes and have found which part I am better at and which part I am really poor at. I learned a lot of practice skills for singing, and they help a lot to improve my singing.

Patient and easy to learn from I've been taking vocal lessons from Brittany for the past month and it's been a fantastic experience. Her patience and knowledge has really helped me begin to expand my range and technique. Any time I get stuck on an exercise, she finds a way for me to connect with it and move past whatever is holding me back. I look forward to continuing my lessons with her for many months to come!

Jo Estill was a pioneer in the vocal health world. As a speech and language therapist, she was extremely sympathetic to singers, as a singer herself. She broke down the body and voice into "structures" (head, neck, larynx, etc.) and basically established the idea of vocal freedom with a complete understanding of how each is used. My technique includes aspects of her findings, but not limited to just her method.
