    About Brittany B.

I majored in English and the rhetorical arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). I'm certified to edit by the University of Chicago. At UIC, I took a tutoring writing class which taught me how to tutor and how to listen to students. There were role playing skits and scenarios for how to approach different kinds of issues a student might have. I have been tutoring students of all ages since 2012. All my students show improvement. I'm different from other tutors because I let the student determine what they want to learn. I plan lesson to lesson based on the previous lesson. This provides a certain amount flexibility for each lessons. For tutoring the ACT, we do an in-class practice test so the answers (and reasons for choosing the answers) are fresh in the students' mind. After I understand how the student thinks, I can translate the test in a way they understand. I also use this method for how to teach memorization.
