My name is Briana and I studied music education at Hofstra University specializing in voice. I have my degree in Music Education K-12 B.A. I'm part of many ensembles there such as the Chorale and Chamber choir. I did my student teaching in Island Trees and Syosset school districts. I am currently the Choral Director at Island Trees Memorial Middle School. I direct two choirs; 5th/6th grade mixed chorus and 7th/8th grade select chorus. I have sung the national anthem for the Nassau Coliseum for many of their events. Being I have been taking professional private voice lessons since age 7, I want to share what I have learned with my students! I have prepared many children for NYSSMA / various performances and look forward to helping my students grow not only as great singers but musicians! I studied contemporary music techniques (belting) for 10 years and operatic techniques for 8 years. I am currently going for my masters degree in music education and taking a vocal jazz private study at Hofstra University. *** Lesson Details *** My lessons will help you find out what type of singer you are! My goal is to inspire you to be the most well rounded musician you can be, while having fun with all types of music! During each lesson we will begin with some basic warm ups that will not only figure out your range as a vocalist, but expand it as well. We will always have a piece of music we are working on which will be worked on at each lesson. As far as the repertoire of music, I am extremely lenient. I am always looking to see what my students are interested in learning and try my very best to accommodate to your sense of style. I can teach you the proper way of belting out an Adele song to singing one of Mozart's operas. Each song that we tackle will be "torn apart" as I like to say it. We will work on the diction using Italian vowels, the rhythms, and the notes. If there is a problem spot we will work on it until you have succeeded and feel good about it! Toward the end of the lessons, most times I will have a short sight reading example to allow you to explore the melody line and give it your own sense of style. This is all to make you become a better all around musician! I am very big into breathing technique, Italian vowels, expression and intonating! This will all be incorporated into the song we are working on at the time. To make your practicing at home during the week a lot easier, I often record our warm-ups and you singing your song. I then email it you for that week so that you can remember what we did and see what spots we worked on so you can improve while practicing! I am so excited to be a part of your musical journey and help you grow! :) *** Studio Equipment *** Living room w/ electronic piano and seating for parents if they choose to sit in on the lesson. *** Travel Equipment *** I would expect my students to have a keyboard or piano and a radio so I can play their tracks. *** Specialties *** I am currently specializing in opera voice. I studied music performance, theory, contemporary music, and recording in studios for the past 10 years.

Excellent. After she presents all of the lesson material to me, Briana covers everything of each very thoroughly and calculatedly, she understands my needs as her student, and teaches me everything I need to learn in order to improve and more. I enjoy taking lessons with her.

Great! I have been taking lessons from Briana for about 3 months now and i definitely see an improvement in my voice! Another good thing is that she great with communicating when it comes to having to change/make up lesson dates. Two thumbs up!
