I am a seasoned Art Teacher, Art Director, and Painter with five years teaching experience. I graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a Bachelors of Science Degree in k-12 Visual Art Education. My painting and drawing students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. Every student has a unique artistic style; I teach students to think outside of the box and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual style. I can help any student to paint or draw with freedom, confidence, and expression. I teach Art students of all different ages and experience levels. I've been a practicing artist, whether it be in my spare time while teaching or for a side income for 12 years, and painting from life for 10 of those. I can teach students to use the techniques of the Renaissance masters and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to paint contemporary pieces using abstract forms, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student. As an art teacher I had summers off and had opportunities to travel. I was fortunate enough to spend time in Italy, where I saw classical artwork at famous museums, toured some of the largest and most famous churches in the world, and spent time site seeing. I love to mentor students who want to become effective and successful people as well as artists. My personal passion is oil painting and drawing, so I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style.
