“Quiet on the set, and… ACTION!” These fictitious six words have been spoken throughout movie and television history to signify the difference and importance of an industry that is still relatively young as an art form. Acting with me in my class is FUN. Because acting with me is about living and being. The camera witnesses and reveals how well the actor (artist/craftsperson) has captured “the moment.” This Mini Term Course, “On the High-Wire Without a Net: Acting for the Camera,” will explore what it means to be fearless in front of the camera as if no one was watching.  From watching, talking about, and dissecting great performances to observing everyday behavior in the world, participants will have a glimpse into what building a confident screen presence is all about.  The class will include a great deal of writing about the inner lives of people, developing a real presence through individual work and acting exercises, as well as watching master actors at their craft.  This class is not for the faint of heart.

I am kind. I am gentle. I am encouraging. I am inspirational. I see the best in people even if they cannot see it in themselves. I also am an Emmy Award Winning actor (Chicago Branch). The picture (with my mother) was taken back in 1989 when I won for a docudrama called "Fastbreak to Glory: The DuSable Panther Story." I have spent most of my career teaching and leading schools, but I really love to provide people the best way to be their best selves through acting. I have acted in films, TV, and Off-Broadway. I'm also very good at having people love what they do.
