Elementary Math with Brian M.

I am a professional engineer and manager, specializing in cyber security, machine learning and military experimentation. I studied electrical engineering at Cornell for undergraduate and graduate degrees, then entered the navy as a submarine officer. Over the last 17 years, I’ve worked with corporate and military clients on cyber security and electrical engineering. I attended Cornell University to study electrical engineering prior to entering the navy. After university, I lived in Hawaii, Washington DC, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Italy. I have always loved mathematics - from secondary school to university to now. In particular, I love the idea that mathematics is a wide and changing field about asking questions and solving problems. For most of us, math was never presented nor taught this way. I love working with students to help them better understand mathematics as something more than a series of algorithms to memorize or subjects to complete to meet requirements. Outside of work and school, I like to travel, run, hike, write and cook. I love playing board games and role playing games. I also like to learn new languages and am working to keep my Italian and Spanish proficient.
