Writing with Brian H.

I have taught English for 34 years, 33 of them at a high school in Old Tappan. Primarily, I taught honors junior English (British Literature), senior AP Literature, and Asian Literature. I have tutored SAT I for nearly 30 years as well as SAT II and ACT. I have also tutored many students who needed help with their school assignments. Over the years I taught many SAT classes and have also taught essay contest classes in an after-school enrichment academy in which my students have won statewide and national honors for their writing. A writer of creative nonfiction myself, I’ve also done a lot of work with all sorts of personal essays, especially college essays. As a freelance writer, I have been published in a number of periodicals including The New York Times, Working Mother and New Jersey Monthly, and I've also written three non-fiction books for teenagers.
