I have been playing guitar for 30 years. I am a state certified K-12 music teacher with over 7 years experience teaching guitar privately and in the classroom. I teach not only children but also adults of any level - beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Students can learn acoustic or electric guitar, and fingerstyle or pick playing. Styles taught include classical, rock and pop, blues, jazz, folk and country. Sight-reading, music theory, and learning by ear are skills all students will develop.
"I like Mr. C. because he always cheers me up if I do something wrong on guitar. He helps you through step by step." -- Aaron, age 9
"I would emphasize your patience with me and your ability to simplify coursework." -- Fedja, age 37
"Excellent teacher with lots of patience. Kick-started me into the musical world and inspired me to learn guitar and start singing." -- Angelina, age 16
*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson will begin with tuning the guitar and warm-ups. Then we'll move on to either our practice books or a song or piece you have chosen to learn and study not found in the books.
If you are beginner, we'll start with how you handle the guitar and any technique issues. Then we'll work on note and chord recognition, the ability to sight-read and play from memory.
