Bretton is based out of Minnesota, where he was educated on a full-ride scholarship at Concordia College in Minnesota. He pursues a triple science major in neuroscience, chemistry, and biology. He applies his multidisciplinary expertise to make difficult-to-understand MCAT topics into something easily understood. He has represented his college’s research output to the state of Minnesota and participated in Mayo Clinic’s exclusive Mayo Innovative Scholars Program on behalf of Concordia. Bretton currently works part-time in a research laboratory where he conducts groundbreaking cancer and neuroscience research. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in biochemistry with an emphasis on neuroscience. Bretton’s passion for science and dedication to his students makes him an ideal MCAT tutor for students at all levels.

    I 1-on-1 tutor students on all subjects tested on the MCAT. Additionally, I teach auxiliary skills needed to excel on the MCAT (how to make the best use of limited time, how to study effectively, etc.). I have also been working on producing MCAT study content. This has included individualized content for students, as well as publically available Youtube videos where I show how to learn and solve complex MCAT topics and problems.

    After receiving a top MCAT score, Kaplan reached out and encouraged me to apply to teach the MCAT to others through their platform. I have taught more than 1,000 students at once in all subjects found on the MCAT (general chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, biology, genetics, physiology, psychology, sociology, and critical analysis and reasoning skills). Due to consistently receiving perfect ratings from students, I was selected for travel teaching at different universities across the country, such as the University of South Florida. This has been a gratifying job because I get to see my students' progress from day one to test day. I have also greatly improved my teaching ability and theory during my time at Kaplan. This has prepared me to take on future teaching roles in graduate school and beyond.
