Experienced professional teacher, specializing in beginner and intermediate students. I have worked primarily with teens and adults, but welcome all ages to join me in their learning adventure. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language and Literature and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
One of the most important things about learning is knowing what your goals are, and I'm happy to help guide you to the proficiency you desire! My methods steer more towards comprehensible input, an approach that allows us to dive right into French, no matter the topic. If you've tried to learn before and are expecting verb conjugation charts, you won't find too much of that here. Let's get to know one another, tell stories, and fill our tool kit with essential skills and fun vocabulary we want to use. This approach doesn't mean we won't ever discuss grammar or usage -- those things are important too! But you will learn them in context, embedded in our lessons, activities, and discussions.
Traditional tutoring is also available if you are a student who needs extra help with your assigned lessons.

I'm a lover of languages and learning. To me, speaking another language is like unlocking a secret to another world and I love sharing that feeling with others. I first started learning French in 1993. My 7th grade best friend and I thought it would be very cool to learn French, as everyone else was studying Spanish. We had those adolescent daydreams of speaking a "secret" language to one another as we walked down the hall. We didn't quite get there in 7th grade, but French absolutely grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Even after our family moved to a small town that didn't offer French, I still studied on my own until I eventually went to college. The rest is history!
My friends describe me as casual, friendly, helpful, and understanding. My goal is to help you reach your goals, whether that means casual phrases for vacation time or building to full fluency. To do this, I listen to the things you want to learn instead of telling you what you must learn. As a certified public school teacher, I know how to structure our conversations to get where you want to go.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Langauge and Literature, and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I have been tutoring and teaching in public high schools since 2014 and am excited to start an online endeavor with you!
