Hello! I offer lessons to the north Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music specializing in classical guitar in 2011. In addition, 10 years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, and alternative styles with electric and acoustic guitars allows me to confidently enjoy playing and teaching these styles as well. I can teach you or your child the skills needed to pursue hobbies or serious musical goals! Personal enjoyment, gigs, performances, recitals, university auditions, or just playing for your friends. My mission is to help you to achieve your own unique goals in an encouraging environment where you or your child feel free to ask questions and set the pace of the lesson. When you meet me it will be clear immediately that I'm not an intimidating person and I honestly want you or your child to feel comfortable and enjoy learning from me. If you are a beginner, great! No bad habits yet. If you already have experience, great! We'll work on taking your playing to a higher level. Some of my accomplishments include: Performing in Master Classes for virtuosic classical guitarists such as Michael Partington, Andrew Zohn and Richard Savino. Performing solo and group repertoire at a concert level with classical guitar. I am well versed in western music theory ranging from Ancient to Modern. Passed examinations in sight reading, transposition, scales and performance for guitar, percussion and keyboard instruments. Various band gigs with electric and steel string acoustic guitar. I also played drum set. Not at the same time. *** Lesson Details *** No two of my lessons are exactly the same. Each lesson is tailored and modified to meet the needs and desires of each student. I want to figure out who you are and where you want to go musically and use that as a foundation to build lessons on. I teach with a laid back style and never yell or scold. The more comfortable you feel during the lesson the more we can get accomplished. The perfect lesson environment is one in which you or your child feel free to ask questions and play an active role in the learning experience. I use the Aaron Shearer and Suzuki method books, primarily, for classical guitar lessons. These books help you develop your technique and theory. At the same time, we integrate various songs and pieces at your discretion that are appropriate for the current level of playing and that appeal to you personally. For rock, blues, folk, country, etc. I have various technique books to get us moving along until we know which direction you want to go. *** Studio Equipment *** private studio w/ 2 classical guitars, an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar, a computer with internet access and printer, box w/ amp, and seating for parents

The short of this review is that Blake is an excellent instructor. Having received a guitar as a gift I came to him with next to zero knowledge. He took the time with me to build the solid fundamentals and work up from there. In conjunction with working with Blake on my technique and further practice on my own time I was able to play with quite a bit more confidence than before. His knowledge on the guitar is quite apparent. My only regret is that I cannot continue the lessons as I am having to move out of state but I would highly recommend anyone looking to pickup the guitar to consider him.

I am an older student who has played another stringed instrument for many years. Learning classical guitar is a challenge for me. Blake is patient, a good listener, and has figured out my learning pattern/learning curve. I am excited to be making good progress studying with Blake.

Quality Instructor His teaching my 7 year old daughter the guitar was impressive to say the least. It is a shame that she lost interest in playing because she didn't want to put in the work. Her lack of passion has no reflection on his professionalism and teaching, I highly recommend him.
