I am a professional pianist and music therapist who ironically plays guitar in an actively gigging band. I have been loving, playing, and performing music in concert halls and pubs alike for as long as I can remember. I have been teaching piano for over 9 years, and have studied Classical piano for over 25 years.
After studying piano performance in college for three years, I decided to take a turn and study music therapy, where I performed my clinical evaluations in schools, older adult care facilities, psychiatric hospitals, residential centers for persons with non-typical needs, and hospice care facilities. After receiving my Bachelor's degree two years after later, I interned in San Diego working in hospitals, children's hospitals, and older adult care facilities. In these settings I facilitated individual or group music therapy sessions, which often involved playing or teaching music. Because of this background, I have learned how to work with a variety of different and unique people.
Learning how to play the piano is a great way to understand music and to expand your musical horizons. Having a piano background, I am able to pick up most instruments with a basic understanding of how they work and how to play them. Because of this, one of my main passions in life is composing music for a variety of instruments (guitar, bass, drums, violin, etc.), recording them into a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as GarageBand or Ableton Live, and 'producing' the music by arranging, mixing, and mastering it.
My goal is to help you attain your musical goals by teaching you the foundations of music through one of the most innately understandable instruments to learn it on - piano.
