I am a full-time worship pastor and a fretted instrument instructor at Lincoln Christian University. I started playing semi-professionally in the early 1980s and eventually spent 2 years playing guitar as a full-time touring musician. In the 1990s, I moved to Nashville, where I played on and produced demo recordings while also serving as a sideman to several singer/songwriters. I became increasingly involved in worship ministry, and became a full-time worship minister in 2004. Throughout that time, I've continued to invest in young musicians, teaching both at home and at the university where I completed a Master's degree in worship.
I enjoy playing a variety of music, so if you have diverse musical interests I'm the teacher for you! If you're a guitarist who also wants to add bass and/or mandolin to your skill set, I can help you with that, too!
Bill is extremely knowledgeable about music and is a great teacher. He is patient yet challenges his students to keep improving. I would recommend him to anyone interested in taking lessons, whether they are just beginning or are looking to further their skills!+ Read More
I've been playing electric guitar for six years, and I am currently studying music at college. I have had many guitar teachers over the years, but I can confidently say that Bill is one of the best guitar instructors I have had the pleasure of learning from. I studied with him for three years, and he really helped to develop me as a guitarist, and prepare me for studying music at college. Many of the skills I possess both as a musician and electric guitar player are attributed to Bill. Bill is an incredible player and is competent in a variety of styles. If you are serious about music and developing your skills, Bill is the person to learn from.+ Read More
The style that Bill uses for teaching guitarists is one of the best in my opinion. When he was giving me lessons, he allowed me to chose the songs and Bill would work them out for me. This forced me to have buy in to the lessons. Not only that, but he was also so relaxed and relational through the lessons, which so not what I was used to coming from other "formal" lessons on piano. Bill is an accomplished guitarist and I think truly wants to inspire and teach the next generation of guitarists. You won't regret taking lessons from him, I sure didn't!+ Read More
Bill Lewis has been my teacher for a number of years on a number of instruments. He is an excellent teacher for beginners and musicians with more experience. He is patient, flexible with what he is open to teaching, punctual and always prepared for his lessons. He is very knowledgeable in music theory and history. He explains exercises and music in general with ease to those who understand music theory and to those who are not interested in it but just want to learn to play guitar. He doesn't mind explaining something twice... or ten times. He genuinely invests in his students and wants to see them do well as musicians. I highly recommend him as a guitar teacher.+ Read More
