I am a 2009 graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Music and a 2011 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia with an MA in Music Education. I teach trumpet, piano and voice.
Each lesson begins with a warmup consisting of scales, rhythmic exercises or short excerpts from repertoire we are working on. Students will learn notation, rhythm, music theory and musicianship, applying this knowledge to repertoire we are working on during lessons. I recognize that each student has different goals and I will focus on achieving these goals during your lessons. I like to encourage creativity by allowing students the opportunity to compose their own short melodies or put a different interpretation on something already learned. Each lesson will end with a summary of what was done that day and any questions will be answered.
I will provide some sheet music, and a music stand
My students are expected to provide their instrument and method books.
