Viola with Bex L.

I am a Junior at Sam Houston State University majoring in Performance for Viola. While I'm still a college student, I already have a lot of teaching experience and plan to pursue a master's degree to further my musical education. I have experience working with students from ages 3 through adulthood. I taught many beginner and intermediate level viola and violin lessons and enjoy being able to help students establish a strong foundation in music. I also worked with more advanced violists such as high school students preparing for all-region and summer music festival auditions. In addition, I was able to teach chamber music in a summer strings camp for junior high students. As a Violist, I have had a wide range of musical experiences. Currently I perform with the Sam Houston State University Symphony Orchestra, I have been the Principal and a Section Member throughout the years. I love playing in orchestras whether it be a traditional symphony or a pit orchestra for a ballet or musical. In regards to chamber music, I performed in a side-by-side with a professional conductor-less orchestra, played in multiple chamber duos and have gigged in quartets. Prior to college, I performed with the Houston Youth Symphony, TMEA All-Region Orchestra, and participated in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition. I teach viola and violin with the objection of having fun, working towards individualized goals, and developing a deep understanding and appreciation of music. I look forward to working with potential students!
