Master of Music in Vocal Performance

Learn how to sing classical music with a professional singer!

I believe in a naturally solid vocal technique through a relaxed larynx, free and steady airflow, and active yet easy support. The bulk of the work should be from the body below the neck, involving the abdomen, back, and sides, but leaving the larynx uninhibited. This results in a warmer, more beautiful sound and guarantees longevity in the singer's career, protecting them from vocal damage. Other important factors I work on include erect yet relaxed posture, an open jaw, and raised soft palate

I believe in inspiring long term results in students through constructive feedback and a healthy and strong technique to serve as a solid foundation for any musical style. I enjoy sharing my love of music and watching students progress in both their musical development as well as their appreciation for music. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Brigham Young University. I have experience teaching voice as well as advanced sight singing to students with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences privately and in group settings. In addition, I have played the piano for over ten years. I am an extremely enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, and I go out of my way to ensure that my students receive the tools they need to take their abilities to the next level and achieve their goals. For me, the focus is entirely on the student and what I need to do to help their development.

Beverly is amazing! My teenaged daughter worked with her to prepare for a musical audition, and in just five lessons I saw such growth in both her singing ability and confidence. Beverly is kind, patient, friendly, and incredibly talented. She is able to push students to do their best, but in a very supportive, nurturing manner. She is very prompt in responding to emails and flexible in scheduling. My daughter has had private lessons with several different teachers (dance, acting, piano, etc) and Beverly is by far her favorite instructor.
