Spanish with Bethany R.

Bethany is a graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, where she majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. She is certified to teach all subjects for elementary grades, including middle school Social Studies and Spanish, and bilingual and ESL classrooms. She is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for languages, having started learning French and Spanish when she was 11 years old. She also started an after-school sewing club at her school for 3rd-5th graders, which has grown immensely in popularity. In her spare time, Bethany enjoys roller skating, crafting, and playing board games and tabletop games. An experienced teacher, Bethany started her career teaching for two years in Elgin, IL. In 2014, she transferred to Mannheim School District in Melrose Park, IL, and has been teaching bilingual 2nd grade there for two years. As a teacher, Bethany is patient and calm but sets high expectations for achievement. She believes strongly in the importance of setting a welcoming, learning-focused tone so that they feel comfortable coming to her with concerns and setting goals.
