English (ESL) with Beth F.

Hello! I’m Bethney! The only thing I love more than literature, history and politics is teaching others to understand the world around them through history and current events, and helping them fall in love with language and use it in ways that affect positive change in their lives and in our society. I have taught students from preschool to senior citizens, and I love learning with and teaching people of all ages and backgrounds. I am specifically certified to teach grades 9-12. I currently teach English As Second Language to children ages 4-15, and have my TESOL certificate. I also teach online social studies and English Language Arts courses for students ages 6-18. I also have bachelor’s degrees in English and journalism with a communications emphasis. In addition, I worked for many years as a newspaper reporter and editor where I honed my skills as a writer and also my abilities to coach others in their writing. My newspaper experience also allowed me to learn about American history, government and politics. I have a bachelor’s degree in political science, and developed curriculum for and taught a community organizing course. I am also deeply involved in community organizing, which requires an ongoing learning and teaching process in history and current events. B. B.
