As a clarinetist, Benjamin has been an active performer, teacher, and adjudicator sought out by ensemble musicians, conductors, and educators for over 13 years. He previously maintained a studio of 50+ middle school and high school aged clarinetists in North Texas. In addition to private lessons, he regularly presented masterclasses, clinics, and other group-based lessons. Beyond private instruction, Mr. Cummins served as Teaching Fellow for Chamber Music at the University of North Texas from 2017-2019. Furthermore, he was selected as staff coach for ClarEssentials Summer Workshops, where he designed & led warm-up/fundamentals classes and mentored multiple chamber ensembles. His teaching style is deeply rooted in these beliefs: 1) All students are capable of creatively expressing themselves with a musical instrument. 2) Each student is an individual-learner who deserves detailed, personalized instruction. Many of his students have been placed in All-City, District, Region, and All-State bands in TX, MS, and TN since he began teaching in 2008. Several have continued their musical educations with degrees in music at Northwestern University, DePaul University, Indiana University, and University of North Texas, among others. Master of Music - University of North Texas (2015) Bachelor of Music - University of Southern Mississippi (2013)
