I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance in December 2011 at California State University, Sacramento. At the university, I performed in masterclasses with distinguished faculty from the San Francisco Music Conservatory, the University of Texas at Austin, and the Manhattan School of Music. I also performed in the guitar studio's recitals each semester, and my degree culminated in two, one-hour solo recitals in which I performed music by renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, and modern composers from Europe and South America. Prior to my degree program, I studied Jazz and performed in numerous groups and as a soloist at a wide range of venues .

I have 10 years of teaching experience, and from 2008-2012, I taught music full-time to get myself and my wife through college. I opened a music teaching business where I taught over 100 students from ages 7 to 87, including some with special needs. My curriculum, based on the university curriculum, includes not only instrumental skill development in my students' genre of interest, but also ear training, music theory, and music history. I host biannual recitals for my students to perform music they have learned, and students can record pieces as they master them at my home studio. Most importantly, lessons are tailored to the skills, interests, and goals of each individual.

Guitar · In studio

I feel lucky to have found Ben as a teacher. At age 75 and with progressive arthritis especially in my hands, I was looking for a way to alleviate some of the pain and get more movement in my hands. Having always loved the guitar and played some in the past I thought maybe this could be the ticket. Ben challenged me to stretch my fingers, apply my scanty knowledge of music while encouraging me to have fun with the guitar as I learned. Always patient and considerate while at the same time challenging me to stretch ever further, Ben motivates me to WANT to reach whatever potential is possible for me. I couldn't ask for a better teacher on this journey of mine.
