My name is Ben! I have been playing and performing on the guitar for over ten years! I took guitar lessons myself for about six years and then branched out on my own, learning from everyone I could. I took every opportunity I could to play, including leading worship at my local church, and starting my own band! Since then, I have mastered over 12 different instruments, but none can compare to my love for the guitar! I studied music in college and became a music major with a vocal emphasis when I was in my early 20’s. Since then I have enjoyed teaching and performing as I continue to enjoy learning new things everyday! I also have been a professional college level English, ESL, and Math tutor for over 5 years! I have been an English major for several years and love to both read and write, having authored several assorted works ranging from poetry, science, and philosophy! In addition I have enjoyed teaching and doing math since I was young! If you struggle with pre-algebra, or simply don't understand numbers, then I can help! *** Lesson Details *** Each person has a different learning style, and learns at different rates. Because of this, I modify my curriculum based on the needs and learning styles of each of my individual students. No two students are alike, why should their lessons be? Growing up I had several teachers who knew a lot about what they taught, but struggled in communicating and teaching their ideas in a way that was relatable and easy to understand. It is my personal goal to deliver the same quality instruction and education with respect towards the student and their respective learning style! I teach a range of subjects in a variety of disciplines. In music I teach everything from sight reading, music theory, and songwriting, but my main areas of focus for teaching are guitar dynamics, ear training, and practical performance techniques which are all skills used for actually playing, performing, and enjoying the guitar! I also offer practical playing and performance training for worship leaders and church musicians that gives the same quality instruction and education used in the general curriculum, with a focus on modern and traditional worship arts material, worship team formation, and organization, and worship leader training which is open to all aspiring church musicians and worship leaders. Some skills that are taught in this course in addition to onstage performance skills are set-list planning, worship team building and maintenance, team communication, church staff and body relations, and basic worship theology and doctrine. Academically I tutor English and Math. I specialize in helping students with anything from grammar, essay writing, and developing their writer's voice, to test preparation and college success techniques and tips!
