I am a songwriter and the piano my outlet. I believe music comes from everywhere and anywhere and is not limited to one phase of history or one part of the world. My goal is to unite and inspire people during these difficult times. Standing ovations have given me thrills before, but the feedback of how we changed somebody's life, or so many people's lives with as much as a single song, reveals the true power of what we are capable of. I once met a young man who played cello at a very competitive music school. Julliard. He was up against serious competition, people playing the same songs and then being rated against each other by how perfect their techniques were. He was impressive to me. I invited him to, "jam," or in other words, improvise new melodies together, bouncing ideas off each other while playing our instruments. We connected right away in harmonies, and maybe even at a spiritual level. This young man had never in all of his training and competing, experienced the pure joy and the invigorating thrill of the union that comes to life when you connect with another person musically. Immaculate melodies poured out of him like a fountain that had been bottling up so much outstanding music for years. He finally released his own voice. I cannot dictate which musical avenue somebody may go down, but many of us love to get lost down any which way! I want to empower and enrich my students' lives, so that they may bring more to the table than the specialist besides them. I want to prepare them for any situation, so they can chase their dreams in whatever field they find most inspiring.
