Alvord Unified School District

Expanded learning after school programs offer tutoring during homework hour and enrichment activities after school. As a site facilitator I plan curriculum and oversee the program’s instructors and students in the program at a middle school. I also work with the school community at large including parents, teachers, and administrators to offer our students support and safety. Enrichment activities currently include arts and crafts, dance, music, skateboarding, sports, robotics, video game design, and lap top research hour.

-Piano and arts instructor of students k-12 in an after school program setting in Riverside county. -Learning facilitator for classes of 8-20 students. -Building community with students, parents, and teachers.

Bridging the Arts

-As a student art teacher I created arts curriculum according to the California State Standards for Visual Arts Education. -Created lesson plans and taught 2nd grade classes at an elementary school in Richmond, CA. - Taught in two languages (english and spanish) to facilitate learning for ESL students as needed.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

Golden Key is the world's largest collegiate honor society. Membership into the Society is by invitation only and applies to the top 15% of college and university sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as top-performing graduate students in all fields of study, based solely on their academic achievements. As an international honor society with more than 400 chapters at colleges and universities around the world, Golden Key is committed to a high standard of scholastic achievement, and an ethos of integrity, innovation, respect, collaboration and diversity

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
